| Abstract | Rice (Oryza sativa L.) sucrose transporter 4 (OsSUT4) is a rice sucrose transporter family gene. During the early seed germination stage, OsSUT4 was substantially expressed in seed aleurone layer, scutellum, and embryonic vascular bundle. The OsSUT4 mRNA level in the embryos of seeds that were germinated at 30 °C was higher than that of seeds germinated at 20 °C. The temperature effect on the changes of OsSUT4 promoter activities was consistent with that on OsSUT4 mRNA levels. The OsSUT4 gene expression that occurs in response to temperature might be mediated by soluble sugars as signals that are transported from endosperms. The tissue-specific expression patterns of OsSUT4 found in spikelets were dependent on the developmental stages of rice panicles. The OsSUT4 transcript level in anthers during the post-heading stage was higher than that during the pre-heading stage, and the developmental expression pattern of the OsSUT4 gene in anthers was highly correlated with that of genes encoded sucrose metabolism and starch synthesis enzymes. The OsSUT4 promoter activity was also detected in mature and germinating pollen. Furthermore, the OsSUT4 expression in anthers was down-regulated at low temperature (i.e., 15/13 °C) compared with that at 30/25 and 35/30 °C. In conclusion, the levels of OsSUT4 expressions in germinating embryos and maturing pollen were regulated by temperature, and the expressions of OsSUT4 in embryos and pollen at higher temperature (i.e., 30 and 35 °C) were stronger than that at lower temperature condition (i.e., 15 and 20 °C). |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
Ministry of Education, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), has sponsored and funded the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) project.
