| Abstract | A new mathematical model is proposed for the probability distributions of the characteristics of the processes observed in turbulent plasmas. The model is based on formal theoretical considerations related to probabilistic limit theorems for a nonhomogeneous random walk and has the form of a finite mixture of Gaussian distributions. The reliability of the model is confirmed by the results of a statistical analysis of the experimental data on density fluctuations in high-temperature plasmas of the L-2M, LHD, and TJ-II stellarators and the local fluctuating flux in the TAU-1 linear device and in the edge plasma of the L-2M stellarator with the use of the estimation-maximization algorithm. It is shown that low-frequency structural turbulence in a magnetized plasma is related to non-Brownian transport, which is determined by the characteristic temporal and spatial scales of the ensembles of stochastic plasma structures. Mechanisms that could be responsible for the random nature of time samples of the local turbulent flux in TAU-1 are indicated. A new physical concept of the intermittence of plasma turbulent pulsations is developed on the basis of the statistical separation of mixtures in terms of the model proposed. The intermittence of plasma pulsations is shown to be associated with the generation of plasma structures (solitons and vortices) and their nonlinear interaction, as well as with their damping and drift. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
