| Abstract | Two dinuclear Cu$^{II}$ complexes of formula [Cu$_{2}$(dpyam)$_{4}$(μ-C$_{2}$O$_{4}$)](PF$_{6}$)$_{2}$(H$_{2}$O)$_{2}$ (1) and [Cu$_{2}$(dpyam)$_{2}$(μ-C$_{2}$O$_{4}$)(NO$_{3}$)$_{2}$(DMF)$_{2}$] (2) (dpyam=di-2-pyridylamine) have been synthesized and their spectroscopic and magnetic properties characterized. Complex (1) crystallizes in the non-centrosymmetric monoclinic space group Pc, while (2) crystallizes in the non-centrosymmetric triclinic space group P1. Compound (1) involves the compressed octahedral Cu$^{II}$ environment, whereas (2) exhibits an elongated octahedral Cu$^{II}$ geometry. Both complexes contain six-coordinate metal centers bridged by planar bis-didentate oxalate group. The geometry, spectroscopic properties and the effective magnetic moment of (1) are very close to those of the recently published [Cu$_{2}$(dpyam)$_{4}$ (μ-C$_{2}$O$_{4}$)](ClO$_{4}$)$_{2}$(H$_{2}$O)$_{3}$ and [Cu$_{2}$(dpyam)$_{4}$(μ-C$_{2}$O$_{4}$)](BF$_{4}$)$_{2}$(H$_{2}$O)$_{3}$. Thus (1) is expected to exhibit a very weak ferromagnetic interaction between the Cu$^{II}$ centers which is confirmed by EPR spectrum. Those of (2) are comparable to those of the recently published [Cu$_{2}$(dpyam)$_{2}$(μ-C$_{2}$O$_{4}$)(NO$_{3}$)$_{2}$(DMSO)$_{2}$]. Therefore a strong antiferomagnetic interaction is expected. The effective magnetic moment at room temperature of (1) was measured to be 2.55 BM/dimer, which agrees with the spin only value of Cu$^{II}$, 2.45BM calculated for two uncoupled spin=1/2 centers. In (2) the room temperature effective magnetic moment of 2.16 BM/dimer indicates the partial spin paring by antiferromagnetic coupling. This is confirmed by the e.p.r. spectrum and is explained as a result of the magnetic interaction between the coplanar $${\rm d}_{x^2-y^2}$$ orbitals on the two copper atoms. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

NDLI is a conglomeration of freely available or institutionally contributed or donated or publisher managed contents. Almost all these contents are hosted and accessed from respective sources. The responsibility for authenticity, relevance, completeness, accuracy, reliability and suitability of these contents rests with the respective organization and NDLI has no responsibility or liability for these. Every effort is made to keep the NDLI portal up and running smoothly unless there are some unavoidable technical issues.
Ministry of Education, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT), has sponsored and funded the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) project.
