| Abstract | Tungsten-based catalysts of different preparations mixed with TiO$_{2}$ support were investigated in the metathesis of ethylene and trans-2-butene to propylene. The catalytic activity of silica-supported tungsten oxide catalyst (WO$_{3}$/SiO$_{2}$) mixed with TiO$_{2}$ additional support had higher efficiency than that of mixed SiO$_{2}$-TiO$_{2}$ supported tungsten oxide (WO$_{3}$/SiO$_{2}$-TiO$_{2}$). The clean area of the TiO$_{2}$ additional support, which provides more space for tungsten migration, is an important key to explain the improved catalytic activity, due to the higher fraction of the isolated surface tetrahedral tungsten oxide species and better dispersion of the tungsten oxide species observed by FT Raman spectroscopy. In addition to the synergistic effect of the additional TiO$_{2}$ support on the metathesis activity, the similar synergy was also observed for the one–third diluted catalysts with additional SiO$_{2}$. It has been found that the synergistic effect exerted by the presence of additional SiO$_{2}$ support predominates over the one-third dilution effect of catalyst concentration. Thus, adding an additional support is another simple way to improve the catalytic activity of the catalysts and makes great benefit for being used in real chemical industry. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
