Abstract	To enhance the surface active sites of the catalyst, a series of La-modified Ni/γ-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ samples were prepared by hydrothermal impregnation method and characterized by XRD, XPS and UV-Vis DRS methods. XRD shows that hydrothermal impregnation is helpful to enhancing the dispersion degree of active component. XPS and UV-Vis DRS indicate that the catalyst modified by a certain amount La is conducive to increasing the surface Ni content. The results indicates that the joint action of La modification and hydrothermal impregnation condition is beneficial to increasing surface active sites and catalytic performance.
