| Abstract | The terbium oxysulfate/oxysulfide Tb$_{2}$O$_{2}$SO$_{4}$/Tb$_{2}$O$_{2}$S were prepared from two different precursors: Tb(DAS)$_{3}$·2H$_{2}$O and Tb$_{2}$(SO$_{4}$)$_{3}$·8H$_{2}$O, utilizing two different atmospheres of thermal decomposition. The reaction of Tb$_{4}$O$_{7}$ with aqueous solution of H$_{2}$SO$_{4}$ (2 mol L$^{−1}$) produces Tb$_{2}$(SO$_{4}$)$_{3}$·8H$_{2}$O; after isolation and purification, it was reacted with Ba(DAS)$_{2}$·H$_{2}$O in aqueous solution to produce Tb$_{2}$(DAS)$_{3}$·2H$_{2}$O precursor. Both of the terbium sulfonate Tb(DAS)$_{3}$·2H$_{2}$O and terbium sulfate Tb$_{2}$(SO$_{4}$)$_{3}$·8H$_{2}$O precursors were analyzed in two different atmospheres of thermal treatment; in air atmosphere, terbium oxysulfate Tb$_{2}$O$_{2}$SO$_{4}$ was obtained as the end product; and in reducing (CO) atmosphere, terbium oxysulfide Tb$_{2}$O$_{2}$S one was obtained. Thus, it was observed that the change of precursor can result in obtaining different size of particles. Moreover, it was also observed that the terbium oxysulfate Tb$_{2}$O$_{2}$SO$_{4}$ obtained from sulfonate precursor at 1223 K, while from sulfate one at 1323 K. Similarly, the terbium oxysulfide Tb$_{2}$O$_{2}$S obtained from both sulfonate and sulfate precursors did not show significant difference, at 1013 K from sulfonate and 1033 K from sulfate precursor. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. NDLI provides user group-specific services such as Examination Preparatory for School and College students and job aspirants. Services for Researchers and general learners are also provided. NDLI is designed to hold content of any language and provides interface support for 10 most widely used Indian languages. It is built to provide support for all academic levels including researchers and life-long learners, all disciplines, all popular forms of access devices and differently-abled learners. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
