Abstract In this paper the authors review their work on spin-LEDs they have carried out. The general operating principles as well as the measuring techniques of spin-LEDs are discussed. Then particular examples of work on spin-LEDs are given using paramagnetic ZnMnSe and ferromagnetic Fe contacts are presented. Finally injection of spin polarized electrons into Si LEDs is described.

It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
