Abstract A brief review of the investigations in the field of heat transfer and hydrodynamics in the fields of mass forces carried out at the Institute of Applied Thermal Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is presented. The review is devoted to swirling flows, near convex and concave surfaces, in surface-vortex systems of various configurations.
