| Abstract | The electrical properties of glasses of the 8Na2O–(22–x)B2O3–70SiO2–x Fe2O3 system, where x varies from 0.3 to 10 mol %, were studied. The glasses were heat treated at temperatures of 550 and 700°C for 144 and 2 h, respectively. When comparing the results of the measurements of the electrical resistance and the calculated values of activation energy of electrical conductivity of the iron-containing glasses and ironfree glass of the 8Na2O · 22B2O3 · 70SiO2 composition, it was concluded that the ionic conductivity is observed in the studied Fe2O3-containing glasses. An increase in conductivity with increasing content of Fe2O3 was observed for glasses that was heat treated at 700°C for 2 h. |

National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. It is designed to enable people to learn and prepare from best practices from all over the world and to facilitate researchers to perform inter-linked exploration from multiple sources. It is developed, operated and maintained from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.
