| Abstract | The Salitre aquifer located in the central portion of the State of Bahia, in the Irecê basin is formed by karstic rocks, constituting a free and heterogeneous aquifer, of the karst-fissure type, depending on the action of calcium carbonate dissolution processes, together with the presence of a fracturing system. In this context, this article aims to evaluate the quality of groundwater and aquifer vulnerability to contamination of the karst Salitre aquifer in the area, according to the data obtained by chemical analysis of 40 parameters and 32 semi-volatile compounds chosen for the hydrogeochemical diagnosis of the area The average effective recharge calculated was 35.49mm/year, accounting for 5.44% of the total rainfall in the area, with an average regulating reservation obtained in the order of 8.9 x 106m3/year. The analysis of the Piper hydrochemical diagrams shows that 51.62% of the analyzed samples are characterized as Calcic Bicarbonated and Mixed water and 48.38% have Calcic Chlorinated and Mixed water. The saturation index of carbonates: calcite, aragonite and dolomite present positive mean values indicating that chemical species analyzed present supersaturation conditions in the waters, corresponding to fouling waters, while the saturation indices of gypsum have mean negative values, indicating subsaturated solution. |
