O envelhecimento traz alteracoes funcionais e morfologicas, o que torna este grupo mais susceptivel a quedas. Este estudo teve como objetivo identificar os fatores de riscos para quedas em residencias de idosos moradores do bairro de Pau da Lima, no municipio de Salvador- BA, avaliar comodos destas residencias e relacionar cada ambiente avaliado com o risco de quedas. Os pesquisadores visitaram residencias do bairro e aplicaram uma Escala de risco de quedas. Nos resultados, a escada chamou atencao pela falta de adaptacao, enquanto a cozinha foi o item que demonstrou melhor adaptacao. Faz-se necessario realizar novas pesquisas com o intuito de comparar os resultados da avaliacao ambiental de fatores de risco para quedas em residencias de idosos, com o indice de quedas sofridas pelos mesmos. Palavras-chave : Adaptacao domiciliar. Idoso. Queda. Ambiente domiciliar. ABSTRACT In Brazil the number of elderly is increasing. Aging causes functional and morphological changes, which makes this group more susceptible to falls. This study aimed to identify risk factors for falls in homes for the elderly residents of the neighborhood of Pau da Lima, the city of Salvador-BA, to evaluate these comfortable homes and relate each area assessed the risk of falls. The researchers visited homes in the neighborhood and applied a range of risk of falls. In the results, the staircase drew attention the lack of adaptation, while the kitchen was the item that showed better adaptation. There is a need for more research in order to compare the results of the environmental assessment of risk factors for falls in homes for the elderly, with the rate of falls suffered by them.
