| Abstract | Digital signage is a form of electronic display on digital screens. Its content is regulated through a server that plays texts, animations, videos or slide shows for a targeted audience. Based on a fieldwork study on four streets in Paris, a typology of contents was established. It shows seven types of functionalities: information, advertising, promotion, product presentation, illustration, entertainment and animation. This article deals with how each of these functionalities is part of the atmosphere in public places on one hand, and how they create emotional effects, on the other hand. |
