Abstract	espanolCuando se aborda el problema de la significatividad de los aprendizajes historicos, es frecuente que se prime los aspectos logico y psicologico, quedando en un plano muy secundario aquello que atane al sentido de tales aprendizajes, pese a su vinculo con la motivacion del alumnado. Aunque las nuevas tendencias de la legislacion educativa pretenden resolver esta cuestion mediante la introduccion de las competencias clave, estas resultan insuficientes desde la perspectiva de una didactica critica. En este trabajo apuntamos algunas reflexiones sobre la importancia que puede tener el estudio de la historia actual a la hora de llevar a cabo una ensenanza de la historia dotada de mayor sentido para el alumnado y, por tanto, con mayor capacidad de motivacion, a la vez que sea promotora de un espiritu critico y contribuya a la formacion de la identidad de nuestros estudiantes EnglishWhen dealing with the problem of the significance of learning history, it is common to prioritize the logical and psychological aspects, leaving the meaning of such learning in the background, despite its link with students’ motivation. Although new trends in education legislation are aimed to resolve this issue through the introduction of key competences, these are insufficient from the perspective of critical didactics. In this essay, we will point out some reflections on the importance of current history when carrying out the teaching of history with greater meaning for the students and, therefore, with greater capacity for motivation, while promoting a critical spirit and contributing to the formation of our students’ identity
