Abstract	Este trabalho tem como objeto de estudo a obra ‘O vendedor de passados’, do escritor angolano Jose Eduardo Agualusa Alves da Cunha. Neste livro, o autor nos apresenta a memoria como impressao de um passado que, nas relacoes entre as personagens, torna-se objeto negociavel, colaborando, desta forma, com um processo de desconstrucao inicial e, mais tarde, transformando-se numa atividade rotineira de reinvencao. Para embasar esta analise, partiremos dos pressupostos teoricos de Halbwachs (2003), como tambem dos aspectos identitarios ligados a memoria e para isso nos orientamos atraves da teoria de Bauman (2005), dentre outros estudiosos que apontam para uma concepcao coletiva da memoria e, consequentemente, do reconhecimento da identidade contida na sua reinvencao. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Memoria, Desconstrucao, Identidade, Narrativa. Abstract This work aims to study the work ‘O vendedor de passados’, of the angolan writer Jose Eduardo Agualusa Alves da Cunha. In this book, the author presents us memory as impression of a past that, in the relation between characters, becomes an initial process of descontruction and, later, turns into an usual activity of reinvention. To embase this analysis, we will start from the theoretical postulate of Halbwachs (2003), as well as from the identity aspects related to memory, and, for this, we orient ourselves through the theory of Bauman (2005), among other scholars that point in to a collective conception of memory and, consequently, the recognition of the identity contained in its reinvention KEYWORDS: Memory.
