| Abstract | The following is a study that articulates a market analysis and financial analysis in order to demonstrate the feasibility that have a project which aims to establish a recycling of used tires in the city of Quito, Ecuador. Collection points of tires would be mainly the provinces of Pichincha, Cotopaxi, Imbabura and Tungurahua. The study demonstrates a number of characteristic factors for this type of plants that are useful for the Ecuadorian market, and can be applied without any problems. Within this type of characteristics what we find is that: a recycling of tires as being assessed, has the potential to process between 2 and 4 tons / hour, as recommended by the manufacturers of machinery, with a number of 4 people / shift; the global market is using the finished product as an alternative fuel in cement factories, the percentage of total trade as fuel on average is 30% and that will mean a significant reduction in costs; the provinces of interest possess 42.5% of cars in the country, which means that the potential for recycling of used tires is high enough to make the project profitable; from our financial analysis we estimate that, through revenue projections, the balance point of the plant is achieved only with the collection of the raw material as it comes in, as it has provided a system of "dump" whose prices vary between $ 1 and $ 4 depending on the type of tire , the number of tires needed to meet the breakeven point is 113 219 tires; finally, both the net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR) suggest that the project is entirely feasible in financial terms because the NPV is positive, yielding an estimate of $ 2'835 751.65, and the IRR is 26.71%. |
