| Abstract | This paper highlights the importance of tourist management of museums considering tourism needs. From a literature review, the main areas that should be considered in the museum touris t management are established. As a case study, six museums in the city of Girona are considered and tourism management is assessed taking as a reference the areas and items identified from literature review, obtaining the current position of tourism management of these six museums. Conclusions demonstrate the utility of thi s research in both academic and practical terms for museum managers |
