| Abstract | Purpose – The aim of this publication comes down to role presenting of participatory budgeting in the area of local self-government units, which theme over the continued evolution of economy at present coprises orientation at improvement of realized activities efficiency. The contents mentioned below encompass increase of citizens significance in the context of considered problematic, which at that time perceived as mediative link, current on the way to directly involvement in common local policy creation, create foundation of its effective implemenatation. Idea of participatory budgeting on the one side oriented at escalation of social services quality, and on the other side at development of democratic community, gives citizens an imperative role, both from their participation in decision-making processes point of view, as well as successive supervision at the next stage. Design/Methodology/approach – This publication has been created on the basis of analysis of Polish and English literature on the subject. 149 Rola budżetowania partycypacyjnego w procesie zarządzania jednostkami samorządu terytorialnego Findings – Conclusion of this publication indicates on a number of advantages resulted from participatory budgeting aplication, defined on the basis of local self-govenrnment units expenditures, which were directly commited to its implementation process. Originality/value – Problematic considere in this publication is perceived as pioneering, from the quest of effective ways in the area of improvement of local self-government units functioning point of view, followed contemporary economy challenges. |
