| Abstract | The catalytic dehydrogenation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone is an industrially important reaction. The catalysts La 2 CuO 4 and strontium substituted lanthanum copper oxide Sr 0.2 La 1.8 CuO 3.9 have been evaluated for their catalytic activities. They found to yield cyclohexanone in the temperature range of 573-613K beyond which dehydration is favoured. The results obtained by the flow reactor technique were fitted in different models (Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism) to find out the rate determining step using a non-linear least square fitting computer programme. The most suitable model was found to be a Langmuir Hinshelwood model, involving surface reaction-dual site with negligible adsorption of cyclohexanone and hydrogen. |
