| Abstract | Information and Communication System development processes start with specifying the requirements in an informal way. The resulting requirements speciication is a natural language document that forms the basis of all future activities, like analysis, design and implementation. In the analysis phase an abstract representation of the requirements is speciied, in order to understand the real intentions of the users and to highlight the aspects that are important for the nal implemented system. This abstraction step, or Conceptual Modeling, is certainly not a trivial one, and includes decisions about what kind of information should be modeled and how this should be done. In this paper we shall mainly focus on how to deal with the informal requirements speciication in order to facilitate the conceptual modeling process, independently of the modeling techniques used. This Natural Language Analysis includes restructuring the natural language document in standard sentence structures, using linguistic knowledge from a lexicon and deening one integrated structure to represent lexical as well as conceptual structures. |
