| Abstract | The consolidation state of submarine soils is very important for the study of erosion, sifting and mass transport. ln marine conditions, sediment bear complex noturol stresses ond specially cycJicol stresses. This poper deols with the effect of cyc/ica/ water pressure due ta tide on the effective stresses in the soi/s. The one dimensional mechanical analysis take occount of the presence of gas and the behaviour is considered elastic in a narrow ronge of stresses. The study involves the use of the boundary loyer thickness, the maximum fiquefiable thickness and the fiquefied loyer thickness. The dynamical effective stress is shown to be important in some cases with unsaturated SOi/S,50 the effective stress con be negative in a fimited oreo at the top of the sediment, cofled the liquefied loyer. The resufts are appfied to some type of soils like sand, si/( clay ... .-4 sC.hernotic graph sho\,J./sthat for a saturatior) ratio near 98%J sand type soifs are not fiquefied, but soft mud, like the sediment of Lorient, moy undergo an important fiquefaction under tide action. |
