| Abstract | Acknowledgements First and foremost, I would like to thank my family for their unwavering support and never-ending source of inspiration. Dad, thank you for taking me on my first " rite of passage " to Yellowstone National Park as a young boy. Although I could not realize it at the time, that trip turned out to be one of the most transformative moments in my life. You instilled in me a passion for nature that has only grown with each passing year. Those values you taught me early on continue to guide me to this day. I owe my deepest gratitude to Helen Fitting, Jennifer Savage, and the all the wonderful wildlife biologists at the Channel Islands National Park whom I had the privilege to work with this past summer. Thank you for eagerly sharing with me your knowledge and stories about the Channel Islands. You have been an invaluable resource. I am indebted to John Ugoretz for providing me with a personal account of the Navy " s involvement on the Channel Islands. Lastly, I would like to thank Professor Morhardt not only for giving me suggestions and guidance throughout this project but for keeping me on track during my entire college career. |
