| Abstract | In view of the earthquake risk in the country, it is important that civil engineering students are taught principles of earthquake engineering. A national workshop was conducted at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur to discuss various issues related to introduction of earthquake engineering in the civil engineering curriculum. The issues discussed included a review on current status of earthquake engineering curriculum, model curricula of AICTE for undergraduate programme, and implementation issues. The participants included a wide cross section of faculty members, professional engineers and architects, and administrators. This paper summarises the workshop discussions. |
