| Abstract | SummaryThe distribution of a methanol and ethanol combination in different parts of the central nervous system in three cases of poisoning with methanol ethanol mixture. The distribution of the mixture has been compared with ethanol values in the examined material and an adequate amount has been ascertained in the same parts. The distribution of water is presented also in various parts of nervous tissue. The maximal concentration of methanol ethanol mixture and water has been determined in the cerebral cortex. In the spine, reticular formation, pons and in basal ganglia these concentration were lower. Brain cortex contained highest concentration of water. This appears in agreement with the fact that tissues containing more water facilitate more intensive chemical process. The water distribution is paralelled by protein content in these parts of nervous system. The pathomorphologic changes in the central nervous system in poisoned subjects have been studied and compared with methanol ethanol mixture distribution. |
