| Abstract | Professional development is a process which involves learning, change and professional growth. Professional development is considered as an individual and collective process that must be accomplished, in the teacher‟s workplace-Schoolbecause it contributes to the development of his/her professional abilities through different experiences, both formal and informal (Marcelo, 2009). This study tries to emphasise the importance of professional practices in what teacher education is concerned. Reflexive practice, research on students learning (Oliveira & Serrazina, 2002), collaborative work (Hargreaves, 1998; Ponte, 2002) and the development of projects (Alonso, 2000) center School and teachers in the scope of teacher education and imply the development of specific personal and professional knowledge as well as the development of abilities in context. This research is focused on an intervention and innovation curricular project and aimed to realise how teacher education can be centered in teacher professional practices, through the characterization of innovative practices, of analysis and of understanding and how collaborative work has been developed and so far its implication in professional development. The study was elaborated and accomplished by the participant teachers involved in the project and was carried out in four classes of 9 th grade of Basic Education. The research methodology is based on a qualitative and interpretative paradigm, and it is assumed as design of the research, the intrinsic case study (Stake, 2007). The data gathering was done through participant observation, diary book registration, interviews and document analysis. The results emphasise professional changes in participants‟ practices pointing out curricular development in logic of curriculum as project, collaborative work, reflection on practices and research targeting students learning. Learning proceeding from reflection and reflexive practice in a context of collaborative work was transferred to personal and professional development of participants. |
