| Abstract | Artistic projects display distinctive characteristics which seem to set them apart from regular economic activity. A considerable number of performing arts initiatives are confronted with ‘market failures’ ,introducing specific challenges for artistic entrepreneurs to perpetuate their activities. By relying on a comparative case study design (n=12) we distill at a process model of performing arts entrepreneurship (PAE) consisting of several phases :inception, confirmation and recurrence. This model is compared with extant insights on innovative entrepreneurship resulting in propositions which highlight the distinctive nature of performing arts entrepreneurship. |
