| Abstract | The use of vegetal goods in the industry has opened an opportunity for products like ¨guarango¨, which is a plant that produces a sheath generally used as powder for the organic tannery in the leather industry and which seeds are used for gelatinization purposes in food products. In 2010 the unsatisfied demand of guarango sheaths in Tungurahua was 55,7 tons, guarango has not been recognized as a commercial agricultural product, that is why the offer and demand statistics are not exact. The worldwide unsatisfied demand shows a deficit of 84% that corresponds to 69.643,6 tons, being covered only the 13% by Peru and the 3% by other countries. This project proposes the setting up of a commercial ¨guarango¨ plantation of 10 hectares and the commercialization of its sheaths in the local market for the tannery in the leather industry. The production and income of this project are based in the beginning of the sheath harvest starting at the fourth year, because in the first three years a negative cash flow is expected. In order to accomplish this project a ten year loan is required from the CFN to finance the 70% of the total investment. |
