| Abstract | Traditional medicine is one of the nation’s cultural heritage that needs to be developed further to be utilized. Prevalence of kidney stone patients by 51.9 per 10.000 population. Breadfruit is a plant with many benefit such as diuretic and inhibitor or breaker of kidney stone formation. Breadfruit leaves contained potassium that can replace calcium to join carbonate, oxalate, or uric forming soluble compounds and slowly will come out together with urine. The purpose of this study was to observe the ability of breadfruit leaves infuse solubility of calcium salts kidney as atomic absorption spectrophotometry . Method of research conducted in analysis qualitative calcium salt in every kidney stones and dissolving kidney stones in breadfruit leaves infuse which was got from patients after operation, then incubated at 37oC for 4 hours. The solubility of calcium was known by measuring the levels of calcium (Ca) early in infusion and after incubation with kidney stones. Level calcium earlier in kidney stones were measured as solubility presentation. Potassium (K) as a factor that can dissolve kidney stones in infusion and also measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. Qualitative results of research were obtained oxalate, phosphate and carbonate in every kidney stones. Potassium and calcium in breadfruit leaves infuse also gave positive results by qualitative test. Ability dissolving kidney stones in the form of an increase in calcium levels after incubation with kidney stones using breadfruit leaves infuse, Ca dissolved in kidney stone A was 34.80%, Ca dissolved in kidney stone B was 11.75%, Ca dissolved in kidney stone C was 13.57%, Ca dissolved in kidney stone D was 26.54%, Ca dissolved in kidney stone E was 21.79% and Ca dissolved in kidney stone F was 12.09%. Recovery test for calcium was 109.62% which showed good accuracy in this method. The methods that was used had a good precision with relative standard deviation for calcium was 1.8425%. Based on this research could be concluded that breadfruit leaves infusion could dissolved some kidney stones which contain oxalate, phosphate and carbonate about 11.75% 34.80% |
