| Abstract | Agri-food sector is fundamental for a country’s development. However, in the present day, this is facing important environmental and social challenges which represents a risk to the competitiveness of SMEs and small-scale farmers, whilst at the same time presenting an opportunity to add value to the farming sector and improve the way of life. In this new context, there is a pressing need for a governance system which provides effective, fair and legitimate institutional responses, as well as the need for sustainable development across all levels of the food and agriculture system. In order for this to occur, innovations should not only be related to genetics, farming or technology; there must also be organizational, social and institutional innovations. This situation requires more simultaneous projects, which at the same time increases the complexity of managing these. Therefore, the objective of this study is to show the importance of the Project Management for the agri-food sector worldwide, starting from the bibliographic revision on the challenges that this once faces and its project requirements. The results I CONGRESO INTERNACIONAL DE INGENIERÍA Y DIRECCIÓN DE PROYECTOS III CONGRESO REGIONAL IPMA – LATNET 132 highlight the need for new forms of governance, in which the project and its management should contribute to achieving the organizations’ strategic objectives. |
