| Abstract | The wetting properties of liquid droplets behavior on superhydrophobic surfaces is still a challenging issue. Functional surfaces with controlled wetting properties, which can respond to external stimuli, have attracted huge interest of the scientific community due to their wide range of potential applications, including microfluidic devices, controllable drug delivery and self cleaning surfaces. The specific design of our superhydrophobic nanotextured surfaces leads to a unique reversible electrowetting. In this communication we show that this reversibility of EW is related to robustness to impalement, by comparing EW experiments to drop impact experiments on surfaces designed from a carpet of entangled or straight silicon nanowires (NWs). |
