Abstract	Debido a la confluencia de diversas circunstancias, a finales de la decada de 1860 se asistio en Espana a un interes inusitado por la prehistoria y la protohistoria, asi como en los restos arqueologicos de esos periodos historicos como objetos de coleccion. Los hermanos Rotondo y Nicolau no fueron ajenos a esta influencia cultural y labraron esta aficion a lo largo de sus vidas. Esto les acerco a disciplinas como la geologia, la arqueologia o la historia, sobre las que plantearon ademas otras iniciativas al margen del coleccionismo. Este articulo es una biografia de ambos hermanos en relacion a estas actividades, aspecto escasamente estudiado con anterioridad, por lo que la investigacion esta basada fundamentalmente en el analisis de documentos ineditos. Due to the confluence of different circumstances, at the end of the decade of 1860 an extraordinary interest in prehistory and protohistory and in archaeological remains of those historical periods as collecting objects aroused in Spain. The Rotondo y Nicolau brothers were also under this cultural influence and grew this hobby all their lives long. This drove them to disciplines as geology, archaeology or history, about which they also proposed other initiatives, apart from collecting. This paper is a biography of the brothers in relation to these activities, aspect scarcely studied before. Because of this reason, the investigation is mainly based in the analysis of unpublished documents.
