Abstract	The paper presents the issue of parallel use of non-lethal and lethal measures as means of base protection, alternative to anti-personnel mines. The non-lethal measures for preventing access to camps, military bases, command posts, control points, refugee camps and other installations have to fulfill specific NATO requirements and these have been described. A concept of an operational base protection system has been presented, which includes: non-lethal and lethal measures, launchers for creating several protection zones as well as a control and monitoring system. The discussed concept focuses on the arrangement and the number of measures used to provide high-level of base protection. The system presented could serve as a new element of Force Protection which enhances survivability, particularly during asymmetric conflicts.
