Abstract	Background: Flare-ups has been becoming a major problem for patients and clinicians for many years. By Igor Tsesis study for 982 patients from six studies the frequency of flare-ups cases at 8.4% is a relatively high frequency of flare-ups that it should be considered in the planning of root canal therapy (endodontic treatment), the risk factors are anxiety, repeated treatment, female aged over 40 years, have a history of allergies, and necrosis of the pulp diagnosis. Purpose: To compare the incidence of flare-ups in endodontic treatment between policlinik dental patient in Haji Hospital and Labuang Baji Hospital, and comparative cases of flare-ups in endodontic treatment by sex, age, and types of teeth in years 20082012. Types of study: observational descriptive Design of study: cross-sectional Methods: Dental Record gathering all endodontic treatment of patient in medical record Haji hospital and Labuang Baji Hospital, from these data were calculated it obtained the number of cases of flare-ups. Results: This study obtained the total Endodontic Treatment of 708 (13%) consisting of Labuang Baji Hospital by 52% (370/708) while Haji Hospital Makassar by 48% (338/708), obtained from endodontic treatment a case of flare-ups as much as 5% (39/708) consisting of 5.6% (21/370) of the Labuang Baji hospital and by 5.32% (18/338) of the Haji Hospital. The cases of flare-ups by sex most women are 27 cases while men only 12 cases, most in the age group 27-36 years are 17 cases while the age group >56 years only two cases is the least, and the most common Mandibular first Molar 15 cases while Maxilarry third Molar only two cases is the least. Conclusion: The case of a flare-up seems directly proportional with the total of endodontic treatment. Comparative Case flare-ups in Haji hospital and Labuang Baji hospital is 6: 7, cases of flare-ups more on Women, age group 27-36 years, and Mandibular first Molar.
