Abstract	Der Artikel beleuchtet den einzigartigen Beitrag von Hanns Wilhelm Eppelsheimer (1890-1972) zur Theorie und Praxis der facettierten klassifikatorischen Sacherschließung. Hauptpunkt seiner Methode ist die klare Trennung zwischen den klassifikatorisch abgebildeten, disziplin-spezifischen Begriffsbeziehungen einerseits und den durch sogenannte „Schlüssel“ abgebildeten, dokument-spezifischen Behandlungsaspekten andererseits. The article calls attention to the unique contributions of Hanns Wilhelm Eppelsheimer (1890-1972) to the theory and practice of facetted classificatory subject cataloguing. Hallmarks of his method are the clear distinction between discipline-specific topical relationships represented in the classification scheme and document-specific aspect relationships expressed in a standard subdivision scheme („Schlüssel“). Cet article met en évidence la contribution exceptionnelle de Hanns Wilhelm Eppelsheimer (1890-1972) à la théorie et à la pratique de la classification matière à facettes. La particularité de cette méthode réside dans une claire distinction entre la matière, qu'il faut relier aux termes spécifiques du schéma de classification, et le documents qu'il faut décrire selon un système de subdivisions fixe („Schlüssel“).
