| Abstract | This multiple case study investigated the role of supply chain management in the relational competitive advantage in some companies from the textile and the footwear industries. The characteristics of buyer-supplier relationships and the companies' relations with the institutional environment were analyzed. The influences of relations with the institutional environment in the competitive advantage and the different sources of competitive advantage to the firms were also investigated. The buyer-supplier relationships in the footwear industry are more aligned with supply chain management and contribute more significantly to competitive advantage. The relations with the components of institutional environment lead to a competitive parity situation in relation to competitors in both sectors. Regarding competitive advantage sources, product innovation is the most important in both sectors. Resumo: Esse artigo investigou a contribuicao da gestao da cadeia de suprimento para a vantagem competitiva relacional nos setores textil e de calcados, por meio de um estudo de casos multiplos. Foram analisadas as caracteristicas do relacionamento com os fornecedores e as relacoes das empresas com componentes do ambiente institucional, bem como a influencia destas na vantagem competitiva, alem das diferentes fontes de vantagem competitiva percebidas pelas empresas. As caracteristicas dos relacionamentos com os fornecedores do setor de calcados apresentam maior alinhamento aos pressupostos da gestao da cadeia de suprimento e contribuem de forma mais relevante para a vantagem competitiva. As relacoes com componentes do ambiente institucional, em ambos os setores, levam a uma situacao de paridade competitiva em relacao aos concorrentes. Com relacao as fontes de vantagem competitiva, a inovacao de produto predomina nos dois setores. Palavras-chave: Gestao da cadeia de suprimento. Vantagem competitiva. Visao relacional. |
