| Abstract | The article is an attempt to show how theater implements its axiological function. It appears to be particularly important nowdays. Twenty-first century education requires new methods for the creation the correct hierarchy of values for the young generation. The article presented the views of , among others, W. Żardeckiego, who points out that all theatrical education is based on the values , stresses that the process of recognition of the values in theater is done in the context of the surrounding reality , and thanks to this the participant is able to embody the learned values in everyday life. In addition, we focus on the conclusions made by A. Bielańska , who emphasizes that in theater actor experiences a meeting with the three worlds, which often have adopted radically different value systems . The participant is able to confront his system of hierarchies of values with the other participant‘s, as well as with people he is closest to. Thanks to this comparison participant has a chance to verify his hierarchy, not only at the level of preferences, but also the realization .This issues were also in the area of interest of K. Pankowska, who indicates that the values begin to "live" in the theater. The actor can explore specific values and anti-values, accept them or not , and during the performance he can see the consequences of such a choice. In turn, this observation and experience affects in the transfer or not, those values into everyday life. Thanks to analysis of the literature it was possible to identify three main factors that enable the realization of this function of theater. First of all, it is reality which was crafted especially for the show, in which actor participates and he is learning about valid values. The second factor is the cooperation during the creation of the show. Spectacle can arise only when participants know each other and in the process, the actor has the ability to commune with the values that are represented by individual members of the group. The final factor that show us the axiological function of theater are playing the roles. When creating a character actor must identify with the hero to get the effect of authenticity. In turn, identification is possible if actor will make analysis of axiological structures of the hero. |
