| Abstract | There are several studies on the dimensions of the wet bulb associated with flow rates, times of application and types of soil, however, there are few studies regarding the behavior on land with different slopes. In this study aimed to determine the influence of flow rate of emitter and terrain slope in the geometry dimensions of the wet bulb on a latosol. The irrigation system used self-compensating drippers with flow rates of 4, 5 and 8 L h, simulating the irrigation of the tomato crop in terrain with slopes of 0, 10, 20 and 30%. After one hour of application of the irrigation doses, soil samples were collected to cover the entire profile of the wet bulb, spaced 10 cm horizontally (surface) and 15 cm vertically (depth), being conditioned and thermal box and conducted to the laboratory to determine moisture by the gravimetric method. According to the results obtained it was concluded that the field gradient affect the geometry of the wetted soil, and increases in the slope provided higher tendency of displacement front of the bulb towards the wetting slope; Increases in the flow rate of the emitter resulted in greater radial migration of the water at the soil surface, forming more open bulbs. On the other hand, increases in flow and slope resulted in lower values of depth reached by water. For the study conditions, the different terrain slopes and dripper flow rates influenced the geometry of the wet bulb and the distribution of humidity in its region, evidencing the importance of the relief in the positioning of the emitters in the drip irrigation. |
