| Abstract | In recent years, the number of commercial econometric software packages has not only increased but also showed significant improvement in terms of technology. Thus, many researchers, especially inexperienced ones, are faced with the problem of selecting an appropriate software package. The present paper introduces a hybrid approach based on the theory of fuzzy set and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and capable of integrating evaluation results obtained from a number of experts to select an appropriate software package. The proposed approach is demonstrated by solving an application of five highly popular regression software packages used mostly in the field of economics and finance and are readily available in the commercial markets. |
