| Abstract | Three different types of cement mixtures: Portland cement/calcium carbonate (50/50 and 75/25) and Portland cement/pozolan (80/20); were used to immobilized an electroplating sludge. The Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) analysis of this sludge presented nickel contents above the requirements. It was found that, all the cements used successfully immobilized the metal. The Portland cement / pozolan mixture presented the best mechanical resistance accordingly with the specifications of final disposal in a sanitary landfill.
