| Abstract | The Epilepsy-Center Berlin-Brandenburg (EZBB) is a network of institutions located at different sites in the city of Berlin and in the neighboring state of Brandenburg. Currently, this network comprises in its core the Department of Epileptology at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Königin Elisabeth Herzberge (KEH) in the Berlin borough Lichtenberg; the Institute for Diagnostics of Epilepsy, which is closely affiliated to the KEH Epilepsy Department and which is located at the same site; and the Epilepsy-Clinic Tabor in Bernau (north of Berlin, state of Brandenburg). Part of the EZBB is the Division of Epilepsy at the Department of Neurology, Charité — Universitätsmedizin Berlin; details are presented in Section 5 on ‘Cooperation with university hospitals’. Associated with the EZBB are institutions for medical rehabilitation (Neurological Rehabilitation Clinic in Beelitz, south of Berlin in the state of Brandenburg) and occupational rehabilitation (vocational training center, Annedore Leber-Werk, Berlin); for a summary, see Fig. 1. Furthermore, the EZBB has developed strong ties with the local active patient advocacy group on epilepsy. |
