| Abstract | Background: Dynamic balance was motion system that serves to control and maintain position of the body that involves the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and cognitive system with changes from the centre of gravity. The balance was important component in motor activity and postural control. Flexible flatfoot is the flat shape of the flatfoot caused by the loss of medial longitudinal arch when standing and will appear when the foot on the ground that will cause a dynamic balance disturbed. The purpose of this study was to prove the difference in the effectiveness of a combination of foot muscle strengthening and kinesiotape with foot muscle strengthening to the increase of dynamic balance in children with flexible flatfoot. Methods: This research was an experimental study with pre and post test control group design. Total sample of this study were 23 children, which divided into 2 groups. Treatment group (n = 13) was given foot muscle strengthening and kinesiotaping while the control group (n = 13) was given foot muscle strengthening. Do exercise 3 times a week for 6 weeks. Sampling techniques with random sampling. Dynamic balance was measured with balance beam walking test and flexible flatfoot was measured with wet foot print tes. Result: The results of this study showed mean difference of dynamic balance before intervention obtained 1.77±0.927 and after intervention obtained 3.54±0,877 with p=0.001 for the treatment group. While in control group showed mean difference of dynamic balance before intervention obtained 1.46±0.776 and after intervention obtained 2.62±0.870 with p=0.001. Test after intervention between treatment group and control group using Independent sample t-test obtained p=0.013 where p<0.05. Conclusion: combination of foot muscle strengthening interventions and kinesiotape better than foot muscle strengthening to increase the dynamic balance with flexible flatfoot. Suggestion: Foot muscle strengthening and kinesiotaping can be used as physiotherapy interventions to improve dynamic balance in children with flexible flatfoot.
