| Abstract | In this chapter, the technical principles of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) are described. First, an overview is provided of image acquisition and reconstruction aspects, including a brief comparison with multi-detector CT. CBCT unit configurations are then discussed in detail, focusing on factors which may affect overall imaging performance as well as clinical applicability. Finally, a few future prospects regarding CBCT imaging technology are highlighted. |
