Abstract	The inventory management systems in Ecuador are in a process of updating with the help of new technologies to increase both efficiency and productivity within organizations. One of the new technologies being used are Radio Frequency Identification systems (RFID), which has recently presented a positive trend in the Ecuadorian market. The degree work consists of three main stages: Analysis of current processes, technical analysis (Proposal for improvement) and economic feasibility analysis. The analysis of current processes or baseline studies include, the review of procedures related to inventory management and definition of critical areas for improvement, through a time and motion study just like the review of management indicators activities; this contributes to a correct technical analysis and a proper focus on solving the problem. During the technical analysis, research is done over the operation and engineering necessary for the implementation of RFID which is carried out by the review of necessary hardware and software features, and an analysis of operative impact through process and activity, on top of the definition of two possible solutions focused in improving inventory control and reduction of non-valuegenerating activities. Ultimately both are evaluated to finalize on the better technical option. Lastly, the study of economic feasibility of each solution is conducted in order to define the possibility of investment by comparing financial indicators such as the Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).
