| Abstract | This research analyses the interaction between politicians and citizens on the social network Twitter, specifically focusing on the study of how the structural and thematic characteristics of tweets affect a greater virality of messages issued by Enrique Penalosa, mayor of Bogota (2015-2019). Virality can be defined as content that is shared by a large number of individuals, where users should be taken into account, the message that for this case is the tweet and the context for it to spread or attenuate (Dafonte, 2015). In addition, you should keep in mind the characteristics of messages such as the use of resources and the simplicity of them. In this order of ideas, the research aims to explain what are the characteristics that affect the virality of twitter messages (hereinafter called tweets), starting with the case study of the Twitter account of Enrique Penalosa, mayor of the Bogota for the period 2016 - 2019. Two explanatory theories are mainly used to analyze this case study. The first is virality, which shows the emergence of this concept from marketing and advertising to communication and specifically to political communication, raising the ideas that, throughout the literature, highlight the causes of its Genesis. The second is the theory of social identity, specifically with the concepts of exogroup and endogroup. The latter helps to identify the types of messages posted on the Twitter account, at the thematic level, and to classify them in these two concepts. Similarly, this theory makes it possible to identify what the storyline of the account looks like, which allows to operationalize the concepts in the quantitative section. Whether or not this application shows evidence exists a relationship between the themes of the exogroup and endogroup and virality, specifically for the case study with the account of Enrique Penalosa. |
