| Abstract | Due to the hasty increase of the world’s elderly population in the last decades, aging becomes target of some studies, challenging research on Nutritional Science. This research aimed to evaluate the nutritional condition of the elderly at a Nursing Home in the city of Marialva, State of Parana. 24 elderly of both genders with average age of 72.4 were evaluated. Among them, the male sex prevailed (58%), unlike the overall Brazilian reality. This transverse study used primary data. The evaluation of nutritional condition was effectuated by means of anthropometric method. It was verified that most of the elderly people, in every age group, presented appropriate weight evaluated regarding Index Body Mass (IBM) and circumference of the arm. The same was verified regarding adiposity, excepting 60-69 age group, whose majority presented excess of weight. As for muscular circumference of the arm, most of the elderly people, in every age group, presented, in every age group, presented appropriate index muscular mass, showing low nutritional risk. |
