| Abstract | Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are known as the greater cause of death in the world. As a way to prevent the development of CVDs in consequence of the increase of postprandial lipemia (PPL), aerobic exercise has been shown as an important protective intervention, once it can reduce postprandial concentrations of triglycerides (TG) and accelerate TG clearance rate. The aim of this study was to verify the effect of two different intensities of prior exercise on PPL after the consumption of a high fat meal. Eleven male subjects, physically actives (BMI 23,43 ± 2,43 kg/m2) with an average of 23 ± 3 years old performed three randomized protocols: Low-intensity (LI) exercise at the ventilatory threshold 1; Moderateintensity (MI) exercise at 10% under the ventilatory threshold 2; or a control protocol (Rest). The sessions of prior exercises were isoenergetic (15% of basal metabolic rate). MI exercise seems to attenuate for longer than the LI the curve of TG comparing to Rest. MI was more effective to reduce the area under curve (AUC) of triglycerides (7,9%) than BI in relation to Rep. In conclusion, MI aerobic exercise performed prior to the consumption of a high fat meal shows a greater attenuation of triglycerides than LI aerobic exercise. |
