| Abstract | SAMSU PRASSETYO. Corrosion Properties of Ironwood Extractive Substances (Eusideroxylon zwageri Teijsm. & Binn.) to Iron and Steel. Supervised by WASRIN SYAFII dan DEDED SARIP NAWAWI. Ulin wood belongs to the grade one of strength and durability that is appropriate for the structural construction material. Wood that use as a construction material usually use a metal connections. This study aims to measure the extractive of Ironwood (Eusideroxylon zwageri Teijsm. & Binn.) and test the corrosion properties of the extractive effect to iron and steel. Ironwood sawdust was extracted with acetone. Field testing was carried out by immersing nails on the log disk and laboratory testing with original sawdust, free extractives sawdust, and extractive agent solution. Outdoor testing and heartwood exhibited greater weight loss of metal than indoor and sapwood. The original sawdust causes greater metal weight loss than free extractives sawdust. Ulin extract was acidic and increase the corrosion of metals. |
