| Abstract | disaggregating it by mesoregion for the 1994 to 2008 period. It seeks to identify the dynamical products in each mesoregion based on their local growth rates. For that, a shift-share model was applied to the production value of the main crops in Minas Gerais. Results show that the dynamical products, mainly grains and fruits, are classified as a more modern production, linking such dynamism to a higher level of technological and capital investment. Stagnant crops, on the order hand, are identified with a more traditional production system, characterized by higher costs and low technological investments, demonstrating, therefore, reduced growth rates for its mesoregion when compared with the rest of the State.
