| Abstract | The mistakes and concepts promoted among the community are submitted to a critical analysis at the same time. Later stress is placed on the importance of the community as an alternative to the crisis arising in the Cuban context in the nineties, as a result of the combination of three factors: the fall of the socialist block, the upsurge of the US block and the emergence of a structural crisis. Experiences in Community work are exemplified as alternatives to the crisis in general in the urban medium. Finally the institutional limitations are put forward, showing how the system itself favours these highly innovative participatory experiments. |
