| Abstract | Introduction: The pediatric cancer in Brazil it’s considered rare if compared to the cancer in adults and differs in many aspects. The pediatric tumors usually are more invasive and tend to present shorter periods of latency, being the early diagnosis very important. Objective: Analyze the prescriptions of antineoplasic and antimicrobial, as well as identifying data of patients admitted to the pediatric oncology unit of a university hospital in Porto Alegre. Method: Cross sectional study, descriptive, and analysis of electronic medical records of patients admitted to the pediatric oncology unit of a university hospital in Porto Alegre. We analyzed medical records of patients aged 0 to 18. And the data analysis was performed by categorization of similarity. For data analysis we used parameters such as age, weight and height, sex, cause of admission, if it was the first hospitalization and length of hospital. It was also verified the patient’s condition at discharge. Results: Were evaluated a total of 28 patients. The incidence of cancer when correlated to gender varied according to age of the patients. For the most patients, the observed hospitalization isn’t the first, highlighting the main reasons for carrying out cycles of chemotherapy and neutropenia, adverse effect that is probably associated with antineoplasic treatment. Conclusion: Through the observed results, it can be observed that cancer in pediatric patients has many variables that influence treatment success. Between them, stands out the patient adherence to the treatment. |
