| Abstract | This paper starts from an initial reflection on the concepts of Education, Training and Learning, considered to be fundamental resources in terms of meeting demands for adaptation and change in today’s knowledge and information society. Adaptation is crucial to organisations in as much as they require increasingly more flexible structures and, by extension, greater adaptation in terms of the men and women who integrate them. This is possible provided people receive ongoing basic education and training geared to enabling them to understand change, to offer creative responses and to participate in drawing up proposals for action. Ongoing training is possible if specific action is taken in this respect. An ongoing training model with particularly interesting features has already been established in Spain. Its adoption stems from the deal struck with the principal social agents (management and union/workers’ representatives), a deal that materialised in the signing of a first agreement in 1992 and a second agreement in 1996.
